Rebuild sign of hope for Queenslanders after the January 2011 floods

Sports clubs are find ways to help clubs in Queensland rebuild after the devastating Queensland floods

While leading sports stars participated in fundraising events such as the tennis friendly on Sunday 16 January that featured Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, grassroots sports clubs are also contributing enormously to flood relief in Queensland.

Following our recent newsletter about the trials of the Bundaberg Netball Association, the Murrumbeena Netball Club in Carnegie Victoria responded with offers of support. Here’s what they had to say:

We are most upset to hear about the devastation and destruction that is affecting the lives of everyday people in Queensland. As a club, we want to get involved and support a Queensland netball club or association that you [Captivations] may know is in need of financial assistance. We’re going to ask our parents/players to donate $5 on top of their payment for their new netball dresses – supplied by Captivations – which we would like you to forward to a netball club in need.

Can your club help?

Does your club want to raise money to donate to a Queensland netball club in need? We’d love to hear from you and we’ll put you in touch with a club or association affected by the floods.

Other sports codes – come on! Let’s make this something really powerful. Sports people around Australia are a generous bunch.

Does your club need financial help?

Has your club been affected by the floods? Could you use some financial support to get back on your feet? Simply contact Captivations and we’ll put you in touch with a club who can help. Thanks to the Murrumbeena Netball Club for starting the ball rolling.
